B.K.M. Charitable Educational Society (Regd.), Balachaur, Distt. S.B.S. Nagar, is serving with cause of higher education in this backward area of Punjab, since 5th June, 1978. This institution is the most prestigious institution in the area, thousands of students educated from this institution settled in India and abroad. I, S.K. Sharma is serving as the Chairman of this society. This society was established in the memory of my grand mother revered Smt. Bhagwanti and brother Sh. Kewal Krishan, in 1978.
The environment of great expansion of educational facilities vividly foreseen during the future plans and also in view of the urgent need to raise pedagogical standards to the highest level and keep them continually improving the need to make available a large number of high quality teachers become of top most priority. It is a great need of this time to develop qualititative programme of teacher education in the college of education. A comprehensive programme of improvement is urgently needed in teacher education. Keeping in view, The B.K.M. College of Education Society resolved to start B.K.M. College of Education from the session 2005-06. This college prepares students as according to the syllabus of Panjab University Chd.
This college is recognized by N.C.T.E., Delhi & Punjab Govt. for B.Ed. 100 seats & D.El.Ed. (E.T.T) 50 seats and is affiliated to the Panjab University Chandigarh (for B.Ed. Course) & is also affiliated to the State Council for Educational Research & Training Punjab, Mohali for (E.T.T. Course) Regular Two Year B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. (E.T.T.) programmes.
I hope this society will try its best and culminate into an institution of higher education with a difference, of which the whole Punjab would feel proud of this institution. I extend all the good wishes for the staff, students and all those concerned with the development of B.K.M.
